Newly formed LGBT rights organization seeks New Hampshire corporation status, which is first step to obtaining nonprofit status
Citing an increase in hate crimes due to the rise of the alternative right and the election of Donald Trump, local activists Kevin Sowyrda and Gary Hoffman announced the formation of New Hampshire LGBT, an organization devoted to protecting the rights of southern New Hampshire’s LGBT community. The group also announced that they filed incorporation paperwork with the state of New Hampshire. The incorporation bid is the first step in achieving the group’s next goal, obtaining 501(c)(3) status, which will allow the organization to accept tax deductible donations.
